Watershed Insight started in 2021 with a single gauge on the Cedar Fork and a founder who was frustrated that the local watershed authority found out about water-quality problems weeks after they started.
Our story
Marcus Ondieki spent six years running a monthly grab-sample program for a regional watershed council before founding Watershed Insight. The pattern was always the same: a problem would show up in a lab report weeks after it started, by which point the only useful thing left to do was document it.
The first Cedar Fork station went live in March 2022. Five years and five stations later, the network covers three watersheds and streams a reading every fifteen minutes, twenty-four hours a day.
